An Evening at Casa Pascoli
On Saturday, May 21, on the occasion of the European Night of the Museums initiative, you may visit Casa Pascoli, accompanied by a professional guide, from 9 pm to 11 pm (free admission).
The country home of the Cardosi-Carrara family, located in Castelvecchio Pascoli in the area of town know as Caproni, is the home that Giovanni Pascoli chose for himself, his sister Maria and his dog Gulì in 1895. Here, the poet spent the most peaceful years of his life until his death on April 6, 1912. After his death, Maria, with great affection, faithfully preserved the structure, furnishings and arrangement of the house for 40 years. She
rests near her brother in the home’s private chapel. The archive holds approximately 76.000 papers and the library approximately 12.000 volumes.
The project is realized in collaboration with the Tuscany Region, the Municipality of Barga, the Giovanni Pascoli Foundation and the Memory Homes Association.
