Il Ciocco and Valle del Serchio Rally
It is up to the asphalt roads of the Il Ciocco and Valle del Serchio Rally – brimming with sports history and glory – to kick off the 2018 season of the Italian Rally Championship,the most important and prestigious tricolored series.
From 22 to 24 March, the motley-colored circus of the IRC will sportingly invade the Serchio Valley, an area that has risen to true symbol of passion and love for rally racing.
The format of the "Il Ciocco Rally" changes: Forte dei Marmi remains the explosive opening site, with the special show stage taking place along the seafront.
The format, duration and structure of the rallies of the top Italian series have been revolutionized with the new rules devised by AciSport and applied for the first time at the Il Ciocco Rally.
Basically, it is a return to a rally that, the day after the spectacular aperitif of the special “show” stage confirmed, for the Il Ciocco Rally, along the seafront of Forte dei Marmi, will offer a unique, long, extremely tense day of races.
It all starts very early in the morning; arrival is in late evening after having disputed another fourteen special stages and over 150 timed kilometers all in one breath.
In particular, the 41st Il Ciocco and Valle del Serchio Rally begins Friday 23 March with the Starting Ceremony in Forte dei Marmi – the pearl of the Versilia seaside – at 5:30 pm. An event that has become a must for sports enthusiasts and for the many spectators ready to embrace this eagerly-awaited, adrenaline-filled show.
This year, too, during the return trip to Il Ciocco, the rally will make a stopover in Viareggio, in the very heart of the Citadel of the Carnival, and in Lucca, that will host the event atop its splendid sixteenth-century city walls.
The start of the race at 6:30 am on Saturday 24 March announces what is expected to be a very intense and long day of competitions, marked by fourteen special stages, with the traditional and spectacular short stages "NoiTv" and "Il Ciocco", all taken inside the Il Ciocco Estate.
The 41st Il Ciocco and Valle del Serchio Rally will end around 7:30 pm on Saturday 24 March, underneath the historic and splendid Porta Ariostea gate in Castelnuovo Garfagnana, the town that also hosts the Service Park and Regrouping of the race.
