"Monte Forato e il Duomo di Barga"
On 22 November, at 5:00 p.m., in the board room of Palazzo Pancrazi, Barga, Lucca, will be held the presentation of the book "Monte Forato e il Duomo di Barga. Tracce di un antico ossevatorio dei Liguri Apuani" (Monte Forato and the Barga Cathedral - traces of an ancient observatory of the Apuan Ligurians). The book, written by Mauro Peppino Zedda who cultivates a great interest in archeoastronomy, reveals, or at least proposes, a hypothesis which has been, until now, almost unknown about the Barga Cathedral, the Sommocolonia and Perpoli churches.
In the book, Zedda highlights the ties that exist with the Monte Forato which was used by these places as an orientation point in order to calculate the path of the sun and the moon. An important discovery that suggests that the places where the three churches stand are sacred and this dates back well before the birth of Christ, perhaps 1550 BC.
