Arrigo Benedetti Journalist Award

On Wednesday May 31st, the stage of Barga’s Teatro dei Differenti will be the venue of the “Arrigo Benedetti Città di Barga 2017” journalist award, the prestigious initiative having a high cultural value organized by the Province of Lucca and the Municipality of Barga, in collaboration with the Centro Europeo Studi "Arrigo Benedetti" European Study Center, the Benedetti family, and with the support of Toscana Energia utility provider.


Together with journalist Ferruccio De Bortoli (director of Il Corriere della Sera and Il Sole 24 Ore newspapers, among his major professional roles) who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, Federica Angeli will also be awarded a prize. Crime and criminal justice reporter working for the Roman office of La Repubblica, she has been permanently under guard since July 2013 due to the death threats she received two months before in Ostia, while she was collecting information for her newspaper.

During the ceremony, a special recognition by the jury will also be bestowed on documentary filmmaker Gabriele Del Grande, author of reportages and articles on the flow of migrants towards Europe.


On this occasion then, three important figures from the world of information will receive the Award dedicated to the Lucchese journalist founder of major magazines such as L’Europeo and L’Espresso.
