This is the Italy we like
Legendary Italian music Maestro Ennio Morricone won the Oscar for Best Original Score for Quentin Tarantino's epic Western The Hateful Eight.
It’s the first competitive Oscar for the 87 year old, Rome-born son of a trumpeter. He won an honorary lifetime achievement award in 2007 and previously won five Oscar nominations which include Roland Joffe's 1987 film The Mission and Brian De Palma's The Untouchables (1988).
Among the winners is the 41 year old American actor winning the Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role in Alejandro Inarritu’s The Revenant.
After five previous Academy Award nominations (1994 for Best Supporting Actor for his work in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, in 2005 for Best Actor in a Leading Role in The Aviator, in 2007 again for Best Actor in Blood Diamond and two nominations for The Wolf of Wall Street in 2014) DiCaprio, of Italian descent (his great grandparents lived in the province of Caserta), finally joined the ranks of Oscar winners and took home the 2016 Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
