Il Ciocco cheers on the Azzurri Italian Olympic athletes!
The 31st edition of the Olympic Games is about to start in Rio de Janeiro (from August 5 to 21), while the Paralympics are taking place from September 7 to 18. And Il Ciocco, too, is preparing to cheer on the Azzurri.
The Games open on Friday, August 5 with the traditional Opening Ceremony during which Federica Pellegrini, swimmer and gold medalist at the 200-meter freestyle, will represent Italy.
Lots of great Italian athletes – 297 in all – will be competing, trying to conquer the five rings: from Pellegrini herself to diver Tania Cagnotto, from the famous fencer Aldo Montano, individual gold medalist at the Athens Olympics in 2004, to another fencer, Arianna Errigo, individual foil silver medalist and team foil gold medalist.
And all our support also goes to two local athletes: Nadia Centoni, Barga’s “favorite daughter” in volleyball, and Sara Morganti, originally from Castelnuovo, world multichampion in Paralympic horse riding.
So Good Luck to all the Azzurri athletes and enjoy the 2016 Summer Olympics everyone!
