La Piazza del Ciocco – Autumn Festival
Stone jewelry, sculptures and hand-decorated ceramics. Acacia honey, biodynamic wine, Slow Food Presidium “Bazzone” prosciutto”, biroldo and mondiola of the Garfagnana. These are just some of the many specialties that will welcome the visitors of the “Autumn Festival”; a weekend with good food and handcrafted items dedicated to the Autumn season and organized by the Il Ciocco Tenuta e Parco.
The event, now in its 3rd edition, will take place on Saturday and Sunday, September 19-20, from 10am to 7pm (free admission). It’s a grand itinerant feast between the Il Ciocco Piazza (pony rides, horses and games for the little ones), the panoramic Terrazza (local food and wine stands) and the Piazzetta in front of the Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco Resort & Spa (stands with Tuscan handcrafted items).
There will also be wine tastings, educational workshops (from the honey museum “Dal Fiore alla Tavola” in the Cantinetta to live demonstrations of how the lavender, cultivated on the Estate, is distilled) and art exhibits (important is the participation of sculptor Simone Gelli, whose creations, in bronze and cement, gesso and terracotta, are already showing at the Il Ciocco in the free exhibit entitled “Incontri nel Tempo”).
Along with the patronage of the Municipality of Barga and Fosciandora, this year the event is also partnered with an important local business that produces and markets cured meats and typical local products, the L’Antica Norcineria. This is a confirmation of the special bond that ties the Il Ciocco with the historic family of master butchers.
