An exhibition dedicated to Gualtiero Jacopetti at the Lucca Film Festival EuropaCinema
From the 1st of April to the 1st of May the exhibition "Lo sguardo selvaggio – I mondo movies in Italia", dedicated to Gualtiero Jacopetti and curated by Paolo Zelati, will take place at the Galleria Comunale and the Galleria Bel Canto, in the Old Town of Barga, Lucca.
Gualtiero Jacopetti was a director, a screenwriter and a journalist who directed, together with Franco Prosperi and Paolo Cavara, the documentary movie "Mondo cane".
Jacopetti was the true inventor of "Mondo movies" (also known as shockumentaries), which, from the Sixties, invaded Italian movie theaters with their powerful and shocking images.
The exhibition is a lineup of Jacopetti's genre which contributed to create, not only through original placards, posters and lobby cards of "Mondo cane" and other Jacopetti movies, as well as a series of 30 lobby cards which will illustrate as many "Mondo movies" made between the Sixties and the Seventies.
