August in Garfagnana & the Serchio Valley
Many are the events in the Garfagnana and Serchio Valley this August!
Below is the first part of the August calendar:
July 28 – August 17 – Barga (Stadium)
Fish & Chips Fest
The fest celebrates the bond that Barga and Scotland share thanks to the many Italians living abroad and the many that have returned to their native land.
From 3 to 5 August – Fornaci di Barga
Agosto a Fornaci
Shops open until midnight, shows and entertainment. On August 4, concert in Piazza IV Novembre with Emma Morton & The Graces Unplugged.
5 and 6 August - Gorfigliano (Minucciano)
Festa della Madonna dei Cavatori
A suggestive appointment with tradition for this annual event. The statue of the Madonna is taken on procession down to the valley, and the next day is brought to the marble quarries. With the participation of the Filarmonica G. Puccini.
6 August - Vergemoli
Starting at 3pm, a memorable edition of the poetry contest Il Boccabugia kicks off. The Boccabugia, aka Iacopo Vanni – historic character from Vergemoli who died a century ago this year – returns for one day to wander among the secular chestnut trees of his native town.
August 11-13 – Molazzana
An extravagant fest with typical Mexican food and drinks, animation for the youngsters and live music.

August 12-14 – Trassilico (Gallicano)
Pane e Biroldo
Craft market, local products, food & wine tour with Garfagnana specialties, visits to the Rocca and street performers.

August 10-20 – Castelnuovo di Garfagnana
Eleven days of music, culture, art, food & wine, and much more. There is something for everyone!
August 19 and August 20 – Careggine
Alpi Apuane Celebration – Nature's great spectacle
Markets with crafts and local produce. Performances and dancing at the foot of Mount Sumbra.
From 10 am
