August in Garfagnana & the Serchio Valley

Many are the events in the Garfagnana and Serchio Valley this August!

Below is the month's calendar:

 

August 11-13 – Molazzana

Mexican Fiesta

An extravagant fest with typical Mexican food and drinks, animation for the youngsters and live music.

From 7 pm

 

August 14 – Pania della Croce (Molazzana)

Under the sky in Pania

On the night of August 14, the volunteers of the National Alpine Rescue Squad will position torches along the profile of the “uomo morto”. During the last of the daylight hours and the beginning of the night sky, the torches will light up the Pania della Croce and will be visible from the valley. Lastly, don't miss the concert at the Rifugio Rossi at 5 pm brought to you by the Serchio delle Muse Music Association.

 

August 11-21 – Castelnuovo di Garfagnana

Commerce Week

Eleven days of music, culture, children, art, food & wine, and much more. There is something for everyone!

 

July 27 – August 17 – Barga

Fish & Chips Fest

The fest celebrates the bond that Barga and Scotland share thanks to the many Italians living abroad and the many that have returned to their native land.

 

August 15-13 – Trassilico (Gallicano)

Craft market, local products, food & wine tour with Garfagnana specialties, visits to the Rocca and street performers.

 

August 21 – Careggine

Alpi Apuane Celebration – Nature's great spectacle

The bread avenue and markets with crafts and local produce. Performances by folk groups. From 10 am to 7 pm.

 

August 26-28 – Villetta (San Romano in Garfagnana)

The 12th Porchetta Motorcycle gathering

Three days of tourist rides and motorcycle excursions. Delight in local foods in a covered facility while enjoying live music.

 

August 27 – Gambereto (Bagni di Lucca)

Gambereto 1189 Anno Domini: a night’s celebration of the end of summer

Medieval Festival in the village of Gambereto. History, art, food, flag waivers (sbandieratori), medieval markets, delectable food, witches, fireworks and medieval reenactments: are just a few of the ingredients of this event.
