To David Bowie
The Il Ciocco would like to remember David Bowie, the chameleon of rock who epitomized the glam rock era of the 1970s, who passed away the night of January 10th at the age of 69 after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer.
Also known as the White Duke, David Bowie's career spanned over 50 years. Fifty years of music, emotions as well as films. Among others,
we like to recall Giovanni Veronesi’s 1998 western with Leonardo Pieraccioni, entitled “Il Mio West”.
That summer, in fact, David spent his time between the film set at the foot
of the Apuan Alps (the saloon was located in the picturesque landscape of Campocatino in the municipality of Vagli Sotto) and the Living Mountain, the estate owned by the Marcucci family whom he had already met in the mid-80s. At that time, the White Duke was a consultant for the London based television station Superchannel, acquired from Virgin Records by
the Marcucci family who were already owners of VideoMusic (1984),
Eccentric and innovative, the British singer and performer left us a few
days after his birthday on January 8th, and the release of Blackstar, his 25th and final studio album… a carefully orchestrated farewell to his fans.
