New Year’s Concert at Il Ciocco: E Adesso Swing
Charitable event - The New Year’s Concert at Il Ciocco reaches its 20th anniversary: a great milestone! (Tuesday 1 January 2019; for information: +39 348 6559783, firstname.lastname@example.org).
Starting at 5:30 pm, “E adesso swing” takes the stage at the Auditorium Theatre, located inside the Estate. A journey through the history of a musical genre that has left its mark, tackling biases, revolutionizing the way people dance, but above all creating spaces for music shared by people of different ethnicities in a period where racial segregation was, sadly, diffused.
The Monday Orchestra directed by Luca Missiti and the dancers of the Golden Swing Society will give rise to an extremely suggestive event, rich in emotions and reflections.
Tributes to authors the likes of Duke Ellington and Glenn Miller will transport the spectator into another epoch, inside that popular dance hall that was the Savoy, in Harlem, New York, between the 1920s and 1950s.
At the center of the event, as always, the importance of solidarity. This year, proceeds from the concert will be donated to the project Casa Euriclea by the Cooperativa Sociale Odissea for women and children in difficulty, a shelter located in the Serchio Valley, and to the Gruppo Volontari della Solidarietà di Barga volunteers for the purchase of a vehicle suitable for transporting persons with disabilities.
The artistic director of the concert, organized by Misericordia di Castelvecchio Pascoli with the contribution of Kedrion Biopharma, Renaissance Tuscany and Il Ciocco S.p.A., is Maestro Matteo De Stefano.
As for the past few years, it will be possible to choose your seat in the hall upon purchasing your ticket, available on-line at vivaticket.it, at Il Ciocco, at Poli newsagent’s in Barga, at Cerboncini stationery shop in Lucca and at all the sales point of the Vivaticket circuit.
