Barga Jazz Festival 2013: from the 17th to the 31st of August
Barga, in the heart of the Serchio Valley, is where it’s all going to happen.
From the 17th to the 31st of August important names in the international music scene will participate in the well-known Barga Festival directed by Giancarlo and Alessandro Rizzardi.
The captivating “Barga In Jazz” with music through the streets of the historical center from 5:00 p.m. on (August 18) is one of the many events scheduled along with two special evenings dedicated to young emerging talents (August 19, 20 – Piazza Angelio), concerts and shows. There will also be a workshop dedicated to students and musicians (August 19, 20), and food and wine tastings in the squares of Barga’s old town with jazz music in the background to keep you company (Jazz for Dinner, Enojazz Night).
On August 23rd and 24th , at the Teatro dei Differenti, the XXVI international competition for musical arrangements and compositions for jazz orchestra. The 2013 edition will be dedicated to Pietro Tonolo, one of the most significant jazz musicians on the Italian and European circuits. For over twenty years, since 1987 when the Barga Orchestra was invited to the Paris Jazz Festival, Pietro Tonolo has collaborated with the BargaJazz Orchestra.
This is the 2013 BargaJazz Orchestra line-up: Maestro Mario Raja (music director), Andrea Tofanelli, Andrea Guzzoletti, Alessio Bianchi, Stefano Benedetti (trumpets), Nicolao Valiensi, Davide Guidi, Marcello Angeli, Silvio Bernardi (trombone), Dimitri Grechi Espinoza, Renzo Telloli, Moraldo Marcheschi, Alessandro Rizzardi, Rossano Emili (sax), Paolo Birro (piano), Angelo Lazzeri (guitar), Luca Gusella (vibraphone), Milko Ambrogini (double bass), Alessandro Fabbri (drums).
Every day after midnight, in the beautiful setting of Villa Libano Sul Fosso, Enojazz: wine tasting and jam sessions with the Festival’s protagonists. Free admission.
