Rally Il Ciocco 2013: an all new edition with a touch of the past

Il Ciocco, Barga, Lucca, Tuscany, 22-24 March

The 36th edition of Il Ciocco e Valle del Serchio rally will take place
from Friday 22 march to Sunday 24 march and will open, as usual, the Italian Rally Championship as the first of eight appointments on the 2013 calendar.  It’s a completely new Ciocco Rally created by the O.S.E. (Organization Sport Event) “laboratory” with a touch of the past editions.

Another major change in this rally is the starting point.
The new location for the departure ceremony on Friday, 22 March, is Forte dei Marmi: the pearl of the Versilia Coast (Lucca, Tuscany) set in an ideal frame between the Tuscan ocean and the mountains of the Valle
del Serchio.
From this splendid location, the start of the first stage is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. heading to Il Ciocco for park fermè.  The leg’s structure is very demanding for both vehicle and crew and it entails 12 special stages for a total of 120 kilometers run against the clock.   On Saturday, 23 march, at 6:30 a.m. departure from Il Ciocco and back at
il Ciocco at 6:45 p.m.

The second leg, Sunday, 24 March, will start at 7:30 a.m. with the final
arrival point scheduled at 1:00 p.m. in the main square of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana (Lucca, Tuscany), Paolo Andreucci’s native town;  last year’s winner with Anna Andreussi at his side.

It all started with Guelfo Marcucci who, in 1976, “invented” this rally.  His son, Andrea Marcucci, continues in his father’s footsteps, taking over the
Il Ciocco e Valle del Serchio rally in 1990 with that same passion and dedication that his father showed.  This rally has proved to have been and
is an excellent way of promoting the Valle del Serchio and raise awareness across Europe.
